Tele Air Ambulance

Sometimes the access to the injured person for any reason is very limited, e.g. when an accident happens in an impassable mountainous region, or when either the natural disasters (flood, earthquake …) or non-natural adventures (war …) block or destroy the roads. In these situations “Air Ambulance” (helicopter) is an appropriate option to be replaced with the regular ambulances, because as well as the further flexibilities and higher speed in transferring, there is no limitation to use the telemedicine system in the air ambulances. Since the internet and GSM system are not easily practical for implementing such a system in the air, we exploit radio frequency (RF) signals to have a full duplex system providing communication in both directions between the helicopter and hospital. Like regular ambulances the doctor would be able to receive real-time data to make the best decision immediately.

This Tele Air Ambulance has the ability to:

  • Be installed & initialized easily in a helicopter
  • Use RF for data transferring
  • Transfer the image, voice and video from the helicopter to hospital and conversely
  • Have battery life for at least 4 hours
  • Manage bandwidth for selecting either critical or whole data
  • Perform all above functions on a low-tech tablet
  • Have no side-effect on the other applications
  • Be installed without any especial hardware requirement
  • Be connected to the DC outlet for longer using in an Air Ambulance
  • Be connected to the patient monitor system either wirelessly or through Ethernet/RS485/ RS232 ports
  • Be connected to the external camera
  • Have a user-friendly menu
  • Storage all information of patients up to 100 GB
  • Be connected to MySQL and SQL servers
  • Search data by name, date, gender, age, disease type, etc.
  • Be in a high level security against vulnerability
  • Display signals on 3 different pages
